The figure has never been straightforward in Cos Ahmet's work, where he considers the human body
a complex apparatus', exploring this in abstract & symbolic translations, sometimes bearing no immediate link to the male form and in early works, were viewed with much ambiguity.

The common thread that runs through his work is his attention to personal life experiences, channelled through his own body as a sounding board and used as a vehicle in communicating these narratives, or what he calls 'body-logues', that delve into issues of cultural background, family, sexuality & identity.

He treats and works through these ideas in the form of small projects or series, becoming connecting layers in his work, allowing the viewer to read and engage across the breadth of Cos Ahmet's ongoing personal journey.

Cos Ahmet is primarily a printmaker, embracing the etching process in much of his work. His background is rooted in constructed textiles, and majored in woven tapestry. He is currently experimenting and re-exploring this way of working and combining this in his new works. His work has been exhibited widely, and are in both public and private collections. He also works to commision.
